IPv4 Transfer Process
The IPv4 transfer can seem like a black box. v4Jam is with you each step of the way and ensures you know exactly what is going on.

When transferring IP addresses there are two main types of transfers, Intra-RIR transfer and Inter-RIR transfer.
Intra-RIR transfer is within one RIR, for example an APNIC member to APNIC member, these are generally the easiest and quickest transfers because only one RIR is involved. There is only one transfer fee and it is paid to APNIC/RIR by the buyer.
Inter-RIR transfers involve 2 RIRs and possibly a NIC in some cases (eg. JPNIC) these take longer because both RIRs have to be satisfied with the transfer conditions and they transfer the range.
All transfers are completed smoothly when:
-
The buyer has pre-approval,
-
The range is unlisted,
-
All parties are responsive to communication,
-
The buyer has funds ready to transfer into Escrow, and
-
The seller transfers the range as soon as the funds have cleared Escrow
v4Jam Smooths the Process
As your broker it is our job to make sure that the transfer is as fast and as smooth as possible. v4Jam ensures that the buyer and seller are verified, set up, and ready for the transfer.
v4Jam will make sure that we have all the necessary information and forms ready to go to satisfy the requirements of the RIR(s) involved.
During the transfer process, v4Jam will also stay in contact with all the parties involved, including the RIR(s) to ensure they have all the necessary information they need to complete the transfer.
The last step in a transfer is the release of funds from Escrow. As soon as the range WHOIS information has been updated we send notification to Escrow.com that they can release the funds. v4Jam sets up each transaction with the minimum release time and we stay in contact with Escrow.com until the funds are released. We know this is a time when the seller can feel particularly vulnerable, however, we stay in contact with them to ensure that this step in the process is as easy and painless as possible.
